Nothing I tried would work so now I only have a text-review for you but as soon as I have my card reader back I'm gonna make videos for you :)
Enough of that. Here's the review. ENJOY!
-304 pages
-part of the 'Covenant series' (Half-Blood is the actual first book but there's a prequel called 'Daimon')
Official Description:
The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.
My summary:
After Alex and her mum have been attacked by daimons Alex is taken to the Covenant to be trained to become a Senitel.
Because she left the Covenant three years ago she gets extra training sessions with the (SUPER-HOT) pure-blood Aiden but if Alex isn't good enough at the end of these sessions?the start of the school term or if she doesn't follow the rules of the Counsil she'll be given an elixir and become an abulic servant for her stepfather Lucius.
Alexandria has a problem with every single rule but especially number 1:
"No relationships between pures and halfs"
'Cause Alex is crushing really hard on her trainer Aiden(who wouldn't?) .
But that's not even her worst problem.
After she finds out what really happened to her mum at the daimon-attack Alex things it's her responsibility to make things right again.
I tried my best to not spoil to much in the summary I hope that worked :D
I kinda liked Aidens character:
He is charming,he's handsome and he can fight!
But I could have killed him for following the rules all the time (C'mon baby,be bold!).

All the rules that Alex breaks Aiden follows meticulously.
I enjoyed Armentrouts style of writing as well. It's amusing and really - I don't really know how to say that now- close to reality.
Not the contant of caurse but the way the characters talk is just the way I would talk to a friend of mine.

Half-Blood is almost exactly the same as the first Vampire Academy book.
The characters are similar and the story line is almost the same.
But that didn't stop me from reading it because I think Half-Blood is still a different book and due to the fact that it's the first book of a series the following books will differ more and more from the Vampire Academy ones.
I think if you have enough time you should read Vampire Academy AND the Covenant series 'cause both of them are worth reading!
I hope that helped and you liked the review.
Sorry, if there are any mistakes in the texts but english is not my native language :)
