Es ist der erste Teil der "Wait for you" Serie von J. Lynn (Jennifer L. Armentrout) der am 10. März 2014 veröffentlicht wurde. Be With You, der zweite Teil ist ebenfalls schon auf deutsch erschienen sowie eine Novella Trust In Me, während der dritte Teil noch nicht übersetzt worden ist.

Inhalt

Das College. Für die meisten nur Wodka, Weiber und wilde Parties. Für Avery Morgenstan ist es eine Chance auf einen Neuanfang. Allerdings interessiert sie sich nicht für Alkohol und noch weniger für Parties. Beides hat in der Vergangenheit zu ihrem traumatischen Erlebnis beigetragen, dass sie in West Virginia zu vergessen sucht. In ihrer alte Heimat Texas ist Avery nichts geblieben was für sie von Bedeutung wäre, weder ihre ehemaligen Freunde oder ihre Eltern. Das einzige worauf sie sich konzentrieren wollte ist ihr Studium und dieser Versuch startet für Avery schon in einer absoluten Katastrophe als sie droht zu spät zu einem Kurs zu erscheinen und zu allem Übel auch noch in Cameron Hamilton hineinläuft, ...wortwörtlich.
Lasst das Gefühls Chaos beginnen.
Für Avery ist der Zusammenstoß eine sehr unangenehme Erinnerung an ihre Vergangenheit, aus der sie zu fliehen versucht. Die Probleme häufen sich in ihrem sonst so verschlossenen und zurückgezogenen Leben, als sich herausstellt, dass Cam nicht nur im gleichen Wohnheim wohnt, sondern auch seeeehr an ihr interessiert ist.
Trotz ihrer Bedenken und Zweifel gibt sie Cams Versuchen, sie hinter ihren psychischen wie physischen Schutzwällen hervorzulocken schließlich nach und erlebt zum ersten Mal seit langer Zeit wieder alles was das Leben lebenswert macht -  Glück, Freude...und vielleicht sogar ein wenig Liebe?
Cameron wird zu einem Höhe - wie auch Wendepunkt ihres Lebens und personifiziert entweder ihre einzige Hoffnung auf Rettung, oder ihren endgültigen Untergang. 
Die Frage ist nur, ob sie sich völlig öffnen und ihre Vergangenheit endlich abschließen kann, oder ob Avery ihre letzte Chance verspielen wird...


Fazit

Wie nicht anders von J. Lynn zu erwarten, ein extrem gelungener Roman. Eine klare Handlung, die es immer wieder schafft aus der Struktur auszubrechen und für Überraschungen wie auch "Oh Mein Gott!?" - Momenten verantwortlich ist. Die Charaktere sind unglaublich passend gestaltet und man hat als Leser ihre äußerlichen wie auch innerlichen Merkmale direkt und während des ganzen "Leseprozesses" vor Augen. 
Avery und Cameron ziehen dich in ihren Bann voller Höhen und Tiefen, Entdeckungen und Schockmomenten und lassen erst los, wenn du als emotionales Wrack zwischen durch verzweifelst und eine Pause einlegen musst (vorzugsweise unterstützt durch Schokolade und einer Tasse Tee) nur um direkt wieder weiter zu machen, um endlich zu erfahren was letzten Endes geschehen wird...!











PS: Alles Gute zum 18. Geburtstag Sina! ;) Auf das du dich Morgen noch an diesen Abend erinnern kannst... zumindest teilweise!

Ich kann euch versichern hier hat man wirklich nicht viel mehr zu tun als zu lesen und bloggen. Naja, gut für euch, Beschäftigung für mich.


Generally Information
Under the Never Sky is a Sci-Fi-Romance novel by Veronica Rossi. It was published on 3. January 2012 and it is the first volume of the Under the Never Sky Trilogy.

Plot
Aria lives in the Reverie. There she has nothing to fear and can do anything she wishes to do. Her world are the Realms-better than Real-which are Illusions created by everybody him-or herself. Nothing bad can happen, nothing can hurt you. Only good things increase.
Peregrine, aka Perry, lives in the real world, where you have to fight to survive and hunt and kill people. There is danger nearly everywhere and you cannot just skip out of it.
When there worlds collide, everything turns upside down. 
At first Aria and Perry hate each other, because of the storys they have heard about the Savages/ the Moles. But they need to be allies to find their loved ones, who got lost in a world which turns out be nothing as it was supposed to be. On their journey they grew closer and learn things about both worlds which proof prejudices wrong. 
To discover the truth they both have to trust each other. 
The Question is not only Can they do that? But if they can survive that long.


Like
What I liked about the book was the whole new world (or should I say worlds?) that Veronica Rossi created. You get sucked in the story and identfy and feel with the main characters trough the book. There ist a change in the point of view every chapter (from Aria to Perry) and I think that is a really great idea of the author. There two worlds, two opinions about other people and two perspectives. It fits perfectly. The reader gets perceptions, beliefs and judgment from Aria as well as from Perry. You cannot get partial on one protagonist or the other and everything comes clear to you in the end.




Dislike
There is not much too dislike about the book besides the confusion you have through the first 50 or 70 pages. You have to concentrate really hard sometimes to follow the progress of the story but otherwise you will love the rest!




Result
One sentence will be enough:
If you love the Hunger Games, Cassia & Ky and the Forsaken then you have to read this Book. It is kind of a mixture of everything. Trust me you will not regret it!

The Halo Chronicles: The Guardian (Deutsch)

Der folgende Review ist über ein Buch was man als Lückenleser (hey das ist doch mal definitiv ein Neologismus!) bezeichnen kann.




Allgemeine Information
Der Beschützer, von Carey Corp, wurde am 24. Mai 2011 veröffentlicht. Als allgemeine Angabe findet sich das Buch unter the Halo Chronicles (auf Deutsch: Heiligenschein Chroniken).

Inhalt
Alexia Grabovski, vorzugsweise Alex, ist als junges Mädchen in ein Kinder Center gekommen und hat schon vieles in unterschiedlichen Pflegefamilien miterlebt. Sie wechselt ständig Center, wie auch Familien und ist innerlich auf der Flucht. Klar hat es kein "Waisenkind" mit meistens schlechten und hartherzigen Pflegeeltern leicht, aber Alex hat ein ganz anderes Problem. Sie hat eine Gabe, oder um es aus Alexias Sichtweise zu betrachten, sie ist verflucht. 
Ihre Bestimmung ist es, in der Menschlichen Welt von Gut und Böse unterscheiden zu können, in dem ihr die Kraft verliehen wurde, schimmernde Heiligenscheine (in den Nuancen von weißgelb bis zu grau und schwarz) um Menschen herum zu erkennen. Danach kann sie beurteilen, inwieweit jemand eine gutartige Seele besitzt, von grausamen Dämonen besessen ist oder verschiedene Emotionen analysieren. Leider weiß sie ihre Gabe nicht richtig an zu wenden, hat unglaubliche Angst vor Menschen mit dunklen Heiligenscheinen und sucht zudem noch ihren besten Freund Derry, der aus dem Center verschwunden ist seit sie in einer neuen Pflegefamilie aufgenommen wurde. 
Kate und Steven Foster, ihre Pflegeeltern, sind sehr liebevolle Menschen, die sich gut um Alex kümmern. Diese scheint sich trotzdem nicht wohl zu fühlen, da Alex sich nur verkriecht, niemanden traut und so oder so davon ausgeht, bald wieder zu verschwinden.
Als sie nach ihre ersten Schultag, der dank ihres Englischlehrers Mr. Abernathy alias Mr. Creepy, nicht gut gelaufen ist auch noch von Jugendlichen überfallen wird, eilt ihr ein Engelsgleicher Retter zur Hilfe. Gabriel Kustosz. Er hat den hellsten Heiligenschein den Alexia je gesehen hat und ist seit dem Tag ihr "heimlicher" Beschützer. 
Was sie nicht weiß ist, dass Gabriel wirklich ein Engel ist und zwar ein Seraph, der eigens zu ihrem Schutz gesannt wurde. Trotz das er schon seit Anbeginn der Zeit existiert, entwickelt er in seinem menschlichen, 16 jährigen, Teenagerkörper Gefühle für Alex, die er noch nie zuvor empfunden hat.
Für Alexia beginnt jetzt, mit Gabriel an ihrer Seite, ein völlig neues Leben und auch sie kann bald ihre Gefühle für ihn nicht mehr verbergen.
Doch Gabriel hat nur eine begrenzte Zeit auf Erden mit ihr um seinen Auftrag zu erfüllen: Alex zu beschützen und ihr zu helfen ihre Gabe an zu nehmen.
Werden die beiden, entgegen aller Komplikationen, es dennoch schaffen ihre Liebe aufrecht zu erhalten?

Was mir gefallen hat
Der Werdegang der Hauptfigur von Alex zu Alexia und dann zu einer völlig anderen, selbstbewussteren Person. Man konnt sich als Leser gut in den Character einfinden und die Handlungswege fast immer nachvollziehen.

Was mir nicht gefallen hat
Das ganze Rätselraten, wer Gabriel wirklich ist, konnte man als Leser nicht mitverfolgen, da diese Information zuvor schon preisgegeben wurde. So ist meiner Meinung nach dem Buch ein Teil der Spannung geraubt worden.

Fazit
Wie oben schon erwähnt, als Lückenleser ist das Buch sehr gur geeignet und ich würde es auf jeden Fall empfehlen. 
Trotzdem sollte man nicht allzu große Erwartungen haben, vor allem wenn man ein Engels Liebhaber ist. Darüber wird nämlich nicht sehr ausführlich berichtet.
Dennoch ist es absolut Wert gelesen und innerhalb kürzester Zeit verschlungen zu werden.

From bedtime story to bestseller...


Generally Information
Percy Jackson - and the Lightning Thief- was published 2006 in Germany and is a Fantasy novel by Rick Riordan. It is the first of five novels from the Percy Jackson series. That series is followed by the Heroes of Olympus series. 

About the author 
Rick Riordan was born on the 5 June 1964 in San Antonio, Texas. Even as a kid he was very interested in mythology, especially Greek and Norse. 
He was a Middle School teacher for 15 years, before he started writing. Nowadays he has a wife and two sons, Haley and Patrick. The most important factor in creating Percy Jackson was probably his son Haley. He is dyslexic and that is often a problem for him. That is why Rick made Percy dyslexic and ADHD. Just for Haley, because at the beginning Percy was only a bedtime story to encourage his son not to give up. 
Riordan worked as a camp director as well and that is where the idea to Camp-Half-Blood came from.


Main Characters
Percy Jackson is our Protagonist, Hero and Narrator. He is 12 years old, has dark hair and green eyes. Before he discovers that he is the son of Poseidon he lives on the Upper East Side in Manhatten with his mother and Stepdad. He is dyslexic and has ADHD that is what makes him kind of a troublemaker and so far he has been kicked out of six schools. 
He is always ironic and a little clumsy, but he is kind too. His main characteristic might be his loyality to everybody he cares about or what he believes in.

Annabeth Chase is a daughter of Athena and has got blond hair and storm grey eyes. She is dyslexic and has ADHD like Percy (and nearly every other halfblood). She had a tough life, because she ran away from home when she was seven, then hung around with Thalia and Luke and finally arrived at the camp.
Annabeth is interested in architecture and battle tactics. She is very clever and smart as well as she is skilled in combat and fighting generally.

Grover Underwood is a satyr, half human, half goat. He lives in Camp Half Blood and works as a Protector for demigods in the mortal world. He is a very friendly person...uuhhmm goat but sometimes he is a real coward and a clumsy fellow. Anyway you can rely on him if it is necessary because he is loyal to his friends. 
Oh and he is a huge fan of food, preferable Enchiladas.

Chiron is a centaur (half human, half horse).  He is the camptrainer and teacher of the Heroes at Camp Half Blood since...well, let's just say it is a long Job because he has done it for over 3000 years by now. He is also very wise (go figure) and a great archer.

Luke Castellan is the son of Hermes and a Tutor at the Camp. He is a very skilled swordsman and 17 years old.Luke is very athletic and ran away from home when he was 12 and traveled with Thalia, the daughter of Zeus for a while until they met Annabeth and (later) Grover who took them to the Camp.

Sally Jackson is Percy's mom and a very kind person. She is always nice, even to Gabe Ugliano, her more than awful husband. She can see trough the mist (read on if you want to find out what it is, please) and has brown hair and lovely brown eyes.

Plot
Perseus, aka Percy, Jackson is a average 12 year old teenage boy who has only little problems with staying at schools. Over the last years he has been kicked out of six schools so far and, according to Percy, Yancy Academy will be no exception. At least he has got his best friend Grover and his favorite Latin Teacher Mr. Brunner (who sits in the wheelchair by the way). His mom lives in New York, Manhatten, with his stupid and stinking stepdad, Gabe Ugliano. Percy hates his stepdad almost as much as Nancy Bobofit, a bully with red hair. She is at the Yancy Academy as well and loves to tease Grover, which gets Percy angry to no limit, cause he is very loyal and protective over the ones he cares about. So most times Percy gets in trouble by defending Grover and fighting Nancy. 
The trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art is a total disaster with Percy pulverizing his Maths teacher and that is only the beginning. 
After he is send home to his mom, Sally Jackson,  (of course with a declaration that he is not welcomed at the Yancy Academy the next year) they both travel to Montauk near the coast. It is Percy favorite vacation and he really appreciates it, because they have not much money and their will be a whole weekend without Gabe, the stinker! It could be perfect... would there not be his best friend showing up in the middle of the night, babbling something about a danger nearby and goat legs instead of humans. While Percy is freaking out a little about everything his mother seems to know exactly what to do and insist to leave as fast as possible to a summer camp which his father (who is at the sea) recommended.
On their way to the camp they are attacked by the son of Minos, the minotaur and Sally gets killed. Percy who is really angry and sad about the death of his mother jumps into action and discovers his fighting skills by killing the minotaur.
After a couple of days Percy wakes up (he was unconscious because of his injuries) at Camp Half Blood and finds out about a whole new world of Greek mythology, Demigods, Satyr, the 12 Olympians and the training camp which is lead by the centaur Chiron, aka Mr. Brunner. 
Percy becomes friends with Luke, son of Hermes, and Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena, trains to survive and tries to figure out who his Dad could be.
He gets the answer after the game capture the flag when he is hurt by a hell hound and heals when he comes in touch with water. 
Now that Poseidon has claimed him he is determined to save his mother from the Underworld, but he has another Problem. Zeus lightning bolt was stolen and Percy is accused to be the thief.
He goes to the oracle to get a prophecy for the journey:

You shall go west and face the God who has turned

You shall find what was stole and see it safely returned

You shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend

And you shall fail to save what matters most in the end 

 The first Quest of Percy, Annabeth and Grover begins... 

Like

I really like the writing style of Rick Riordan. It is not only in the first person but has also many character descriptions, so you, as a reader, can identify with Percy very well. He is pretty ironic and sometimes clumsy, so lovely and you take him directly in your heart.

Although the book is a lot about Greek mythology, it has in no case a communality with a history book. So if you are not really a geek about Greek mythology (as I am), you will enjoy it anyway, because it is one of the best fantasy novels in the world.

Dislike

There is really nothing to dislike about the plot, the characters or the story.

Only one hint to our german followers: If you have the chance to read the book in English, please do it. Otherwise you will be disappointed about the German translation...yeah it is really that bad!

Do not be afraid when that will be you first english novel. It is a really good start for beginners (in english reading) because the language and choice of word is easy to understand and trust me, after a while you may will enjoy reading english books even better than germans.

Result

If you want to know whether Percy is able to save his mother, to proof that he is not the lightning thief and who is the friend that will betray him...then do some sports by rushing to the next bookstore and spriting back home to start the book as fast as possible (after you paid, of course)!

PS: the price for the book in english is 5,50€ and in german 8,99€ (another advantage of english books!)  

Geboren um Mitternacht / Born at Midnight (Deutsch)

Wie ihr wahrscheinlich schon gemerkt habt, halten wir und nicht ganz an die Plan aufstellung...na ja wir haben das mehr oder weniger über den Haufen geworfen in welcher Reihenfolge wir reviewen, aber alle genannten Bücher werden auf jeden Fall zwischendurch dran sein. Der Rest ist eher spontan.

Allgemeine Information

Born at Midnight (oder auf Deutsch:Geboren um Mitternacht), von C.C. Hunter, ist 2012 bei uns erschienen und ein Fantasy Roman. Es ist der erste Teil der Shadow Falls Series und somit der Auftakt der Camp-Reihe für Übernatürliche Wesen.

 

 Inhalt

Kylie Galen ist ihrer Meinung nach ein ganz normaler 16 jähriger Teenager mit normalen Problemen. Ihre Eltern trennen sich, ihre Oma ist gestorben und auch ihr Freund hat ihre Beziehung beendet. Um sich ein bisschen abzulenken beschließt sie mit ihrer Freundin auf eine Party zu gehen...bis diese aus dem Ruder läuft und sie in das Shadow Falls Camp verfrachtet wird. Angeblich eine Bleibe für problematische Teenager. Was sie nicht weiß: es ist ein Camp für Übernatürliche Wesen, wie Feen, Vampire, Werwölfe, Hexen und Gestaltswandler. 

Umso größer ist verständlicher Weise Kylies Schock als sie herausfindet wo sie sich befindet und das auch sie selbst übernatürliche Kräfte besitzt. Jetzt muss sie nicht nur versuchen mit dieser neuen und verrückten Welt klar zu kommen, sondern auch noch herausfinden welcher "Spezies" sie angehört, da anscheinend niemand in der Lage ist das Muster auf ihrer Stirn zu entziffern (diese Muster befinden sich bei jedem Lebewesen, nur für Übernatürliche sichtbar, auf der Stirn und kennzeichnen den jeweiligen Spezien Status). Also gilt Kylie nicht nur als übernatürliches Wesen sondern auch als Freak. Glücklicherweise bekommt sie Unterstützung von ihren Hüttengenossinnen im Camp: Miranda, einer Hexe und Della, der Vampirin. Auch Derek, ein attraktiver Halb-Fae, hat Interesse an ihr und versucht ihr zu helfen. 

Leider ist die Überraschung, den Übernatürlichen anzugehören, noch nicht alles. Im Camp trifft Kylie auf einen alten Bekannten... Lucas Parker. Ein zum tot umfallen heißer Werwolf, schlau, arrogant und ein Katzenmörder. Er war vor zehn Jahren Kylies Nachbar und hat Nachts ihre Katze, Socks, getötet. Als sie ihn wieder erkennt, stürzen die verschiedensten Gefühle auf sie ein und sie hat Angst, dass er sich auch an sie erinnern kann. Doch ihre Sorge soll unbegründet bleiben, da Lucas ihr nichts antut, im Gegenteil er versucht sie zu beschützen. 

Am Anfang fällt Kylie es noch schwer zu akzeptieren, wo sie sich befindet und was sie ist. Vor allem da ihre neuen Gaben ihr Angst machen. Sie ist nicht nur empfindlich was die Beziehungen verschiedener Personen untereinander angeht, sondern kann auch mit Geistern kommunizieren. Das ist eine sehr seltene Gabe und sie macht viele der Campbewohner nervös. Was allerdings aus Kylies Sicht noch unheimlicher ist, ist das sie sich noch weiter entwickelt, also noch begabter und mächtiger wird. Sie will an dieser ganzen Welt nicht mehr teilhaben und nur in ihr altes Leben zurück. Doch dann droht dem Camp Gefahr durch Rogues (abtrünnige Übernatürliche) und es stellt sich die Frage: Reichen ihre Kräfte am Ende aus um die, die sie liebt zu schützen? 

Was mir gefallen hat

Ich war positiv überrascht das die Story überhaupt nicht von anderen, schon bekannten Büchern, abgekupfert ist. Ich war am Anfang zwar skeptisch, weil schon ziemlich viele Handlungstränge von Übernatürlichem in Camps bzw. Internaten verschiedenster Art vorhanden sind, aber ich wurde nicht enttäuscht. C.C. Hunter hat meiner Meinung nach nur mal wieder bewiesen, dass Kreativität nie ausgeschöpft ist und dadurch immer neue, geniale und faszinierende Geschichten entstehen.

Zu der Charakter Gestaltung:

Man kann sich sehr gut mit einzelnen Figuren identifizieren und bekommt durch detailreiche Beschreibungen eine genaue Vorstellung. So fühlt man, trotz das die Story in der 3. Person geschrieben ist, in jeder einzelnen Situation mit ihr mit und macht sich im Endeffekt auch schon Sorgen um Probleme die nicht die eigenen, sondern die der Hauptfigur sind. In jedem guten Buch darf natürlich auch der Humor und Sarkasmus nicht fehlen und ich kann euch versichern, dass in Geboren um Mitternacht nicht damit gespart wurde. Wahrscheinlich trägt die kleine Badass Vampiren Della zum größten Teil dazu bei, aber das katapultiert sie direkt auf die Liste der Top 5 der Lieblings Charaktere in dem Buch. Auch der Romantische Teil ist sehr hochprozentig und dementsprechend mitreißend. Nicht nur zwischen Kylie, Derek und Lucas fliegen die Funken, so ziemlich alle wichtigen Charaktere sind in Liebesbeziehungen -und/oder Problemen verstrickt. Das macht vieles an dem Buch allerdings noch sympathischer, denn so fühlt man sich als Leser weiter in der Handlung mit eingebunden. Nämlich durch dem ganz normalen Liebestress ohne jegliches Übernatürlichen Zeugs. Na ja bis auf das bei den meistens (aber nicht immer, die Ladys haben es auch Faustdick hinter den Ohren) Testosteron geladenen Kämpfen, nicht die Fäuste fliegen, stattdessen sich aber mal eben in einen Drachen verwandelt wird oder Feuerbälle durch die Luft geworfen werden. Sonst würde ja auch irgendwo der Spaß auf der Strecke bleiben...

Was mir nicht gefallen hat

Mir persönlich ist es am Anfang des Buches schwer gefallen, mich in die Story rein zu finden. Das könnte zum Teil an dem Schreibstil und teils an mir selbst gelegen haben. Aber wie das meistens mit allen guten Büchern ist, sollte man wenigstens die 100 Seiten Marke knacken. Danach wird es nämlich richtig interessant und fesselnd (in diesem Fall liegt der Höchstwert bei maximal 50 Seiten, also keine Sorge).  

Fazit

Nicht direkt verzweifeln wenn das anfängliche lesen etwas konfus ist, sondern Willensstärke beweisen und weiter machen. Denn es lohnt sich wirklich. Vor allem da Geboren um Mitternacht nur der erste Band der Shadow Falls Serie ist und somit auch (fürs erste) nicht die Sorge besteht, dass die außergewöhnliche und aufregende Geschichte von Kylie Galen, der Übernatürlichen, vorschnell endet. 

Mother's Day

Aufgabe: Das Thema ist Muttertag die Textform ist frei gestellt.
Ich hab mich für eine short story entschieden und was daraus geworden ist könnt ihr jetzt selbst nachlesen...

Mother's Day

I really hate my life sometimes. I even think about giving up, leaving everything behind and starting a new life. But I can't. Although I am 21 years old I cannot run away because I have got a two year old toddler. I love him, I really do, but he is kind of a fulltime job. I always have to look after him, cook, play with him, take care of him. 

Now you may think that is not to much or too difficult, but alway having an eye on my child is not my only exercise: I also have to do my job at the donut shop while Ben is in the kindergarden. The job is really under my level but I do not find a better one. Besides I need the money. I raise Ben alone because the asshole, who Ben would call dad, left the second I told him I was pregnant.

Now I have to take care of everything:

I have to pay the rent for the flat which by the way is very small. I have to buy the food and everything else we need.

I really need a break and today is my free day, because it is mother's day. And I am a mother so we, Ben and I, are going to enjoy it and spend some time together. That is why I decided to go to the zoowith him, he loves animals.

Once we are there we rush from compound to compound an Ben is excited nearly by every animal. After two hours we get hungry and I leave the baby buggy near the ice-cream booth and then join the queue. It is a long one because it's a hot summer day. After a few minutes I turn around to look if Ben is still sleeping in the baby buggy but all I see is an empty space. I almost get a heart attack when spott the buggy 20 meters forward rolling down the hill. When it picks up pace I start to run. I run as fast as I can on the uneven ground with my high heels on. Part of my brain registeres that it was a bad idea to put these shoes on, but the rest is desperatly concentrating on trying to reach the buggy. Just when I'm thinking in horror I won't be able to catch it in time, that the buggy will crash into a wall, a stranger appears and catches the buggy with my son in it easily and gently. I arrive at the buggy, rip Ben out of it and take him in a big hug, mumbling:"You are okay,...everythings alright,... I was so scared!"

"Are you alright?" asks the man behind me.

"Yes, thank you very much for saving my son! Thank you, thank you very much!" I said a little histarically.

"Okay. I think you better sit down for a while. I am going to grab you something to drink."

"You don't have to do this. I am alright..." I try to convince him but he cuts me off:"Just stay here. I'll be back in a minute." He turns around and walks away.

Maybe I am more hysteric than I thought.

I do what he told me and sit down on the next bench, Ben on my lab and the buggy beside me.

The stranger's really back in a minute with a cup of coffee. He hands it over and I give him a thankful look. 

"Feel better now?" he asks after I drank a sip out of the cup.

"Yes, thanks to you, again. What should I call you? Hero of my day?"

"If you want to" he chuckles, "but Archer will do it as well."

I really look at Archer now for the first time (before I was in a sort of a lunatic state) and realize that he is a gorgeous man, probably my age.

"And you are...?" Archer asks.

"Oh, sorry, I am Abigail" I say, blushing.

"So Abigail, it is a cute name by the way, it fits you." My face must be as red as a tomato.

"Anyway, I think you owe me a favor...would you like to go out with me tonight?"

That was...unexpected.

"I would really like to go out with you, but I have no one who could babysit Ben!"

It was the truth. It has been years that I was out with a man, because of Ben, as i said he is a fulltime job. The look on my face must have been desperate because he then offers that we can just go to a restaurant and grab something better to eat than ice-cream.

I was relieved. He didn't back off because of Ben, he even brought up a compromise.

I get the intention that maybe my life isn't that bad and probably is going to get much better...with Archer.

Hey Guys!

Hier die Buchrezension nochmal auf Englisch. Das war quasi eine Hausaufgabe für meinen Englisch-Kurs und ich hoffe sie gefällt euch!

Hex Hall

Hex Hall is a magic-fantasy novel by Rachel Hawkins.
It is about the 16 year old witch, Sophie Mercer, who is very powerful when it comes to all kinds of magic.She lives with her mother in the mortal world and goes to school like every other ordinary teenager. Sophie pretends to be normal but it doesn't go the way she want it to, due to the fact she casts a love spell for another girl. The spell gets out of control and Sophie has to take the consequences: she is sent away to Hecate Hall aka Hex Hall. That is a boarding school for difficult magic children...sort of.
Once there, Sophie gets into enormous trouble. For a start she antagonizes with three dark witches at the school, falls in love with an inaccessible and impossible boy and gets a vampire as her roommate. As if that is not enough, there is also someone who attacks female witches and Sphie could be the next victim... .


I really liked how the author sketched Sophie the main character. It is a great mixture of sarcastic humor and clumsy fellow. It represents the writing style of Rachel Hawkins and that was what totale grabbed my interest. Of course, there is action and a portion of romance as well. In my opinion that are the important things which characterize a good book.

The only thing I disliked were the partly huge leaps in time. I would have liked to read some more details in each chaptor, anyhow it was an amazing book!
